Tell people: the announcement

What you need

• A published Moment. The audience is the people with a current consent to hear from the club, one message per address.

How

1. Open the Moment’s console and press “Announce it” under “Tell people”.
2. The page shows the audience as counts: on the list, sent this one, still to send. Nobody’s name.
3. Choose which past Moment to thank people for, or “Nothing yet, just the date”, and write your note. Bold and italic work; a link does not.
4. Send a test to yourself, or to anyone on the committee. Each test is recorded against that version of the words, once per person per version, and listed on the page.
5. Press “Send to” with the count beside it, and confirm on the sheet. Twenty-five go at a time; press again for the next twenty-five.

What happens then

• Replies come to the organiser who sent it. Every copy carries a one-press stop link that needs no sign-in.
• A double press sends once: each address is claimed before its email goes.
• An address that bounces is not tried again. A complaint takes the club’s consent back for that address as well.
• Where sending to the list is not switched on for a deployment, the page says so and the tests still work.
• A published post has “Tell the list”, which opens this page with the post’s words already in the note.

What Rally Round never does here

• Send to someone whose consent is not current, or send the same version to the same person twice.
• Put a name in the subject, or write in anyone’s voice but the organiser’s.
